Revolting Rhymes

Revolting Rhymes

Earlier this year we dressed up at school for Roald Dahl Day. I was dressed as a Wonka chocolate bar and Golden Ticket on the other side of my 'sandwich board'. My sister dressed up as little Red Riding Hood from Revolting Rhymes.

It was weird because no one really seemed to have heard of this book, BUT the BBC have shown it on TV over Christmas.

I like this book because it adds a twist to the classic fairy-tales we know. My favourite 'Rhyme' is when Little Red Riding Hood or Red goes to see her grandma and the wolf corners Red dressed as Grandma. Red says all the rhymes such as 'My, what big eyes you have grandma!" but when she doesn't ask about the teeth the wolf flips out. Whilst he is panicking Red is said to have 'WHIPPED A PISTOL FROM HER KNICKERS!' and killed the wolf, making him into a wolfskin coat. Though there is lots more...

The TV show is over two evenings, Roald Dahl’s fantastic reworking of classic fairytales comes to life in animations based on Quentin Blake’s illustrations. On the first night are the stories of a pistol-kincker-packing Red Riding Hood and her BFF – the resourceful Snow White – property-developing pigs, hungry wolfs and determination like you wouldn't know. And the second tells of cinderella's adventure and some of other classics.

ITS A MUST WATCH! (OR READ!)

  1. Revolting rhymes are my favourite of all Roald Dahl's books. Love his sense of humour. Great photo!
